Hopefully going into week 6 you are still in the chase for your league. More bye-weeks and more injuries so odds are you are looking for the waiver wire. Let’s get into it.
Week 6 Byes: Denver, Tennessee, Kansas City, Arizona, San Diego, Seattle
——————–
Colt McCoy – QB

Colt McCoy is the 27th most owned fantasy quarterback yet he is ranked in the top 12 in points per game. He is firing on all cylinders and should be in your line-up if you have to replace a quarterback. Probably wouldn’t feel great about it but hard to argue when he is out producing guys like Phillip Rivers, Joe Flacco, and Ben Roethlisberger.
Rex Grossman – QB
![]()
![]()

Grossman is going up against a weak Eagles defense who is likely about to fire their defensive coordinator or bring in a ‘defensive consultant’ to try and figure out their mess. Philadelphia can’t tackle and there are no signs they are going to figure it out this week. Rex is a great plug-n-play for Week 6.
Jackie Battle – RB

Jackie Battle is potentially the best running back free agent of the year. Battle is the back the Chiefs needed to step-up and become a game changer. He has a bye in week 6 but he likely won’t be available on your waiver wire in week 7 when he faces the Raiders. He is worth a high draft priorty unless you have a gaping hole in your line-up.
Delone Carter – RB
![]()

Well you aren’t wrong to try out Delone Carter but it’s hard to get excited about the Colts running game when their feature back couldn’t get it done. Carter is a rookie out of a Syracuse who most people weren’t high on and he hasn’t shown much in his limited roll to prove them wrong. Still, he is likely to be the majority work horse and that makes him a pick-up. Again, look at the one star I gave him.
Darrius Heyward-Bey – WR

I am extremely excited to be able to recommend Darrius Heyward-Bey finally. Last week I wrote about how his presence was going to limit Denarius Moore’s production. He didn’t just limit it, he made it go away completely. DHB is fast and explosive. If the Raiders continue to find a way to get this man the ball good things will happen. Did I mention he was fast?
Brandon Pettigrew – TE

Felt good about him last week feel good about him again this week. Pettigrew is an integrate part of the Lions passing game and in week 5 he finally found the end zone. Gotta love the situation he is in and there should be no hesitation about starting him as a fill-in for week 6.

Kicker pick-up of the week: Ryan Longwell
D/ST pick-up of the week: Redskins
Other Potential Pick-ups: Tim Tebow (bye-week), Fred Davis (TE), Benjamin Watson (TE), Greg Little (WR), Earnest Graham (RB), Jacob Hester (RB), Doug Baldwin (WR)
Keep sending in all your great questions and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for daily content!
What do you think about Donald Brown? Hes not available in my league as a waiver pickup but he may be worth trading for with bye weeks and all. I feel like he’ll take the bulk of the carries over Carter only because he has more experience. Carter is def the third down/red-zone guy.
I don’t feel highly about either but personally I wouldn’t want anything to do with Donald Brown, but yeah as a bye-week guy he’s not awful.
Would you trade David nelson and K. Winslow for Arron Hernandez
Nope. David Nelson alone is more valuable then Hernandez to me.
Do you start DHB this week, or do you think Cleveland def will shut him down?
I think Cleveland and most teams are still worried about Jacoby Ford foremost, so I’d start him. Ride the hot hand.
Am I the only one who thinks Greg Little can turn into a dependable player by season’s end? I want to start him as a flex – other options would be Jonathan Stewart or Earnest Graham (got him as a handcuff for Blount).
You are not alone. I have him listed at the bottom of the entry. I’ve written about Earnest Graham a couple of times and if I were to own a back in Carolina it would be Williams. Biggest knock on Graham is he is the 3rd down guy, that’s about it. If Blount doesn’t play this week it will likely be the Kregg Lumpkin special (who I think can do a good job).
My mistake, I overlooked that. I’ve seen a huge range of projections for Graham, but he has been a 3rd down, pass catching back (hopefully Blount gets healthy soon and it won’t be an issue). Stewart has been ok, but just ok (I got him for depth, really). I can see Little becoming a consistent target now as a starter, and playing Oakland (#30 pass defense) could lead to a good week for him. Thanks for the input
who do i start……mendenhallor torrain
stevie johnson or pierre garcone
Hmmm. If Mendenhall is 100% roll with him otherwise it’s Stevie.
Brandon Marshall @ nyj OR pick up DHB
DHB hands down
Should I drop Denarius Moore for James Jones
They have about the same value. But better QB favors Jones
Who will be the featured back in Was? Hightower or Torain? If Torain, would it be smart to drop hightower for battle?
OR should I trade Hightower for Greene?
I’d rather have Battle but only slightly
I like your blog…and have added it to my front page as an RSS. That is the good news.
The bad news…my team is nearly done for the year. Already!
Anyway, here is the link to my blog, if you are at all interested.

Need some advice. I have an offer to trade Wells and Holmes and pick up Best. Holmes is productive when INVOLVED, but hasn’t been getting many looks so is this really a loss? Wells has been slightly more productive than Best (with the exception of his freak performance last week vs CHI) and has some decent match ups with the rest of the season (with the exception of maybe PIT/BAL/SF defense).
Thoughts?
While Beanie is healthy he is the guy I would much rather own. Best has his own injury concerns and his lone performance was against a badly banged up Bears defense who were missing key players and lacked depth on the sidelines for rest. Stick with Wells.
My feelings expressed, thanks. One more scenario….my roster is lacking in WR depth. If I were to trade Wells/Holmes…what WR(s) would you realistically target (not including Nicks)?
should i pick up DHB or James Jones in a PPr league
I’m not buying into James Jones, yet. DHB for me.
Can Tim Tebow save my season?
fantasyfootballbs.blogspot.com/2011/10/tim-tebow-is-my-savior.html
I’m in good shape at 4-1, but have scrambled all 5 weeks with RBs. Drafted Rice, Moreno and Ryan Williams. Thinking of going heavy on WRs from here on out (I’ve got Marshall, Lloyd, Jordy Nelson, TB Mike, and Mike Thomas. Do you think Moreno has any value left? Don’t think anyone in my league would trade for him, is it crazy to flat out drop drop him?
Actually not at all. I would try and even get bare bottom value for him. Perhaps someone like Greg Little or Preston Parker.
Thanks. Yeah, I picked up Little right after posting. After Moreno’s 3 for 3 with a TD last week I was thinking maybe, just maybe, perhaps Tebow can find him some screens, but he’s likely to just piss me off all year.
I have Rivers on a bye with Cutler as my backup. McCoy, Rex, Bradford, Dalton are all available…are any of them worth starting over Cutler this week??
Dalton would be the pick for me. I just can’t start Cutler as it stands absolutely no protection.
I’d love to hear from you…. I’ve got an RB/WR imbalance on my bench…
RBs: Rice, Hillis, Torain, D’Angelo Will, Starks
WRs: Mike Wallace, Stevie Johnson, Julio, DHB, Antonio Brown
I’m thinking of dropping D-Will for some more WR, since the WR bye weeks are coming up (and Rice and Hillis just had theris in week 5)
Waiver: Doucet, Preston Parker, Ocho, Danario, Greg Little, or even Jacoby Ford….
Or, even possible shore up back up QB, I’ve got Cam, and Flacco…
WW: Culter, Rex, Colt, Bradford and Dalton are all out there… and I’m thinking that I can wait out a couple more weeks till Cam’s bye week…. though, Flacco would be up against Pitt…
I just can’t figure out what the worth of my stashed RBs would be… and who I could reasonable trade for…. standard league, 3WR, 2RB
Any thoughts?
To be fair your depth at both WR and RB are pretty equal for your league set-up. I do like Williams going forward at RB but I also don’t think he is a must own. Looking at your free agents there isn’t exactly a name that pops out. None of the receivers are really ownable (maybe Little is) in standard 10 team leagues. You may have to stick with your team as it is and then look to see who is available at QB during Cam’s bye week. Your depth at RB isn’t exactly a strong trade candidate unless you are willing to move Hillis or Rice which for some people is out of the question. Trying to dish out Hillis for a WR2 could potentially help out your team but for some people thats just difficult as they remember how good he was last year.
Thanks for your input buddy. And you read my mind on selling Hillis for a WR2. I had tried on several occasions, and no one’s biting. I’ve definitely put this blog on my favorites to keep up with everything.
Thanks again!
Scratch that, doesn’t look like I’ll get anything for Hillis now. Dammit!
Yeah me either sadly. His outlook for the ROS is extremely low. He was already trending down.
